Congratulations to the Three Finalists in the Second Wind Short Story Contest!

This was a tough contest to judge since so many of the entries were top notch. Finally, after much deliberation, we narrowed our choices down to three:

Guardian Angel by Wilfred Bereswill

Dormant by LeeAnn McLennan

Ransom Heart by Michael Robert Dyet

We did our job, now it’s time for you to do yours. Please read these three stories (click on the title to find the story) and vote for your favorite by leaving the name of the story as comment here on this blog article. Comments left on the story itself do not count. You have to leave a comment here.

Judging begins now and ends January 31, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

Thank you!!

Guardian Angel is a true inspirational story. It has my vote.

  129. Jeromy says:

My vote overwelmingly goes to ‘Ransom Heart’ by Michael Robert Dyet! It’s a great little story which keeps the reader on his/her toes. There is tension between all three main characters, and Will’s dissolving respect for DeAnn, his wife, contributes to the climax. It also touches on a topical subject, a materialistic lifestyle suddenly being challenged, globally as well as personally, for everyone. It’s a brittle relationship waiting to break. Over all, it’s a great story, credible, current, tense, touching, scary and bold!

  130. Dormant by LeeAnn McLennan

They are all very well written and engage the full mind and senses! Michael Dyet’s “Ransom Heart” — while perhaps not as dramatic as the others — wins easily because it’s real: it doesn’t depend on supernatural “stuff” for its renewal / redemption.
